From the dark and the cold, If I may be so bold, Take a risk, take a chance And let the devils dance. It's coming back once more Just to knock at the door, No need to run and hide, For it can't come inside. No shadows from before Are welcome anymore.
I have rid my dwelling of things I have no need. Dusted out the cobwebs on which my fear can feed. Silenced the old voices that guided what I'd do. Turned my back to their lies, I now seek what is true. Now I sit in silence and strain my ears to hear, A new voice to replace ones no longer let near. "No one's left to push you, you've sent them all away" Was all that I could hear a familiar voice say. Searching the haze, I sought the source of this new guide. No one near, it came clear that I must search inside. Started as a whisper, but soon became a roar, Filling up my silence so I could not ignore. I've heard it all my life, but I thought it insane, Not fitting with the other's truths that I sought to gain. And without the others, I can now stand alone, And speak with a new voice I once more call my own.
